Lagos State Examinations Board is one of the Parastatals of the Lagos State Ministry of Education. The Board was established in 1988 in response to the 1988 National policy on Education to support the implementation of 6-3-3-4 System of Education to take care of certification of Primary and Junior secondary School Children.
MINISTERIAL / CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Board has the responsibility to take full control of the conduct, processes and administration of tests for all categories in the Primary, Junior Secondary Schools and the Public Service. Such examinations are classified into two viz: School and Non-School based.
School based examinations include:
Screening test - For primary six pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary schools with boarding facility.
CAS / placement test For admitting students into other neighbourhood Junior Secondary Schools.
Basic Education Certificate Examination- For students completing Junior Secondary Education.
Non-school based examination include: Combined Confirmation / Promotion Examination for Officers on Grade Level 03 and 04 in the public Service. Compulsory Examination - for newly employed Executive / Administrative Officers in the Public Service. External Secretarial examination - For Confidential Secretaries and Typists converting to Confidential Secretaries in the Public Service. Trade Test - For employed and self-employed Artisans to obtain Certificate of proficiency.
